University of Lincoln: BSc Midwifery

“I really enjoyed my time in Sixth Form, where the high-quality teaching and support helped me thrive. My A Levels provided a strong foundation for university: PE developed my understanding of anatomy and physiology, essential for providing safe maternity care. English Literature strengthened my academic writing, while Psychology deepened my understanding of human behaviour - both vital when supporting women and families. Completing my EPQ enhanced my research and critical thinking skills, helping me approach university studies with greater independence and confidence.”

One of my favourite experiences was serving as Deputy Head Boy (Marketing and outreach), it gave me the chance to represent the school and contribute to something I’m really proud of."

“I really enjoyed my time at QEHS and made some great memories that I will cherish. Studying Product Design and undertaking an EPQ helped to solidify my passion for architecture and I will always be grateful to my teachers for supporting me throughout my A Levels and the Uni application process. Being part of the Senior Leadership Team and running House events also gave me the confidence that helped me to prepare for my first design presentation and it is a skill that I will always be able to carry with me.”

Liya B

Durham University: Business and Management (with a year in industry)

“My time at Sixth Form was a valuable experience. I will always be grateful for the constant support from staff, who were always there to help or even just to chat. Their support especially helped during stressful periods, such as exams and university applications. Being a House Captain and a part of the Senior Leadership Team shaped me to become more confident, determined and independent as a person. These experiences taught me valuable leadership and communication skills, which have made the transition to life at university easier and prepared me for potential challenges that I’ll face. I made so many memories in Sixth Form that I’ll always hold onto.”

Char J

Lancaster University: History with a minor in Politics

“Studying History, English Literature and Art at sixth form gave me the perfect balance of creativity and critical thinking. I was always encouraged to explore ideas and new ways of thinking independently while still having the support from teachers. After studying at QEHS during my secondary education, sixth form has helped me to develop strong writing and analytical skills, through my coursework essays and EPQ, which have been valuable at university in my essays, as well as through applying to universities. My lessons were always engaging and a comfortable atmosphere, encouraging conversation and debate, while creating a class that felt like family. I’m now studying History with a minor in Politics at Lancaster University, and I am forever grateful for the teachers, staff, and the learning environment that helped me reach this point. My teachers have been genuine inspirations and support throughout my time at QEHS.”

Lily D

Lancaster University: Theoretical Physics

“Sixth Form was a really important step in helping me prepare for university. Taking Maths, Further Maths and Physics was challenging, helping me learn how to approach complex problems and developed a genuine love for understanding how things work. Shout out to the Verran’s, Mrs A, and the Physics department. I’m now at Lancaster University studying Theoretical Physics, and the skills and work ethic I developed during Sixth Form have made such a difference.”
